Propak Cape is the highly successful regional event taking place in the Western Cape, alternating in a three-year cycle with Propak Africa, the premier packaging exhibition in Southern Africa. This trade exhibition, together with co-located shows, offers an excellent opportunity for exhibitors: to generate sales, gain valuable sales leads and develop business connections.

For visitors, it’s an exciting platform for all those involved with packaging, food processing, plastics, printing and labelling. Propak Cape, together with co-located shows FoodPro, Pro-Plas Expo, Pro-Label Cape and Print Expo, brings exhibitors together across the various sectors, each having synergy with the other, and visitors can engage with the most progressive companies in the country and view new products, latest industry trends, product developments and on-site product demonstrations.

Although the basic function of packaging is to preserve and protect the pack contents, packaging, particularly in the retail market, has become a fascinating marketing tool that is used to promote and sell products. Visitors will be able to see hot new trends in the area of packaging with a focus on design, extended shelf-life technologies and environment-sensitive advancements.

Exports from the Western Cape are big business, traditionally being dominated by primary products such as fruit, fish and vegetables – accounting for 60% of regional exports – so packaging is a big industry in this area. Add to this the beneficiation process (the manufacturing sector in Cape Town is largely centered on food processing), which brings increasingly higher value to the products, and one can see why the Western Cape is such an important area for these industry sectors, and why Propak Cape has been so successful since its launch in 2002.
